Goolugatup Sailing Carnival: Celebrating Our Podium Sailors at South of Perth Yacht Club

The Goolugatup Sailing Carnival delivered a weekend of determination, talent, and true sailing spirit as our EFYC sailors took on challenging conditions at South of Perth Yacht Club. Despite the testing weather, our fleet rose to the occasion, showcasing grit, growth, and an impressive level of sportsmanship across every race.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our podium sailors:

Gold Fleet

🥇 Lailah Beck
🥈 Harriet Mellor
🥉 Miles Beck

Silver Fleet

🥇 Arnaud Laroche
🥈 Lachlan Batt
🥉 Giorgio Sommacal

Open Skiff Freestyle Event

🏆 Ophelia Beck

While the podium results are worth celebrating, the weekend was about much more than medals. Every sailor who competed overcame shifting winds, tactical challenges, and moments that pushed them outside their comfort zones. From confident starts to tight mark roundings and renewed focus between races, our fleet demonstrated admirable perseverance.

The carnival atmosphere at SoPYC added to the excitement, with families and supporters cheering from the shore and creating a fantastic community vibe. The event served as a reminder of the strength of junior sailing in WA and the positive pathways that events like this help build.

We extend a warm thank you to South of Perth Yacht Club for hosting the event,  to WA Open Skiff Sailing and to Kraken Images for capturing the action.

As we look ahead, our sailors won’t have long to rest. We’re gearing up for the next OSWA Cup powered by MonkeyFist Marine: the International Classes Regatta (ICR) at RFBYC, where we hope to see another strong EFYC showing.

Congratulations to all competitors, your hard work paid off, and we’re excited for what’s next!
