There may have been a few sore heads after the football, but that didn’t stop more than 40 East Fremantle Yacht Club members from turning up for the annual Busy Bee on Saturday.
With Opening Day just around the corner, members rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into a wide range of jobs around the clubhouse and grounds. From painting and cleaning to general maintenance and improvements, there was plenty to keep everyone busy — and by the end of the weekend, the Club was looking a whole lot fresher and ready for the season ahead.
A special thank you goes to Leon Smale, who led the grano crew and also used his contacts to arrange for the skip bin hire to be donated this year. His help made a big difference to getting the clean-up underway.
We’d also like to thank Anthony Grosser, who donated the hire of the Elevated Work Platform. This allowed members to safely reach and paint some otherwise inaccessible areas around the Club.
And then there was the irrepressible Peter McMerrin, who made sure we got maximum value from the equipment. The Elevated Work Platform wasn’t just put to work on Saturday morning — Peter kept it busy on Friday afternoon, Saturday afternoon and Sunday as well!
Most importantly, the Busy Bee was a great example of what makes a yacht club community special. More than 40 members giving up their time, lending a hand and working together means the Club is looking its best for the season ahead.
A big thank you to everyone who came along, helped out and contributed to getting the Club ready for Opening Day next week.
