A Windy Sunday on the Water

Sunday was forecast to be a quiet day, with several of the nine keelboats opting for large jibs to handle the expected light winds. However, conditions took an unexpected turn, with winds reaching 16–20 knots and gusting up to 30 knots. This caught many by surprise, leading to several broaches, but all skippers successfully brought their crews back safely.

One Division 4 keelboat ran aground at Chidley Point but was promptly pulled off by a passing powerboat. Meanwhile, Support 2 was rounding up stragglers in Melville Water.

In Division 4, Precious Little, Ninja, and Spritzig competed—let’s hope for more participants next week! Division 2 featured Jack, Jolly Roger, and Hyperion, while Division 3 saw Howzat and Parking Space battling for honours. Turkish Delight secured the win in Division 1.

Adding to the excitement, crews navigated around Sharpies racing through Blackwall Reach for their State Championship heats, creating an exhilarating afternoon of sailing.
