Sail Our Way Women’s Regatta Delivers Strong Racing at EFYC

East Fremantle Yacht Club proudly hosted the Sail Our Way Women’s Keelboat Regatta on Sunday 12 April, welcoming talented female sailors from across Western Australia for a day of competitive racing and camaraderie.

Racing was conducted in Elliott 7s, with the support of Royal Perth Yacht Club, and the event was proudly backed by She Sails, an initiative of Australian Sailing that promotes and supports women’s participation in sailing.

Light winds created challenging conditions throughout the day, but the fleet rose to the occasion, delivering close and tactical racing across six heats. Consistency across both morning and afternoon sessions proved crucial, with several teams trading top positions as the regatta unfolded.

Fremantle Sailing Club’s Nia Jerwood delivered a standout performance across the heats, alongside strong campaigns from Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club sailors Mia Lovelady and Sandy Anderson. After six races, these three crews secured their positions in the final.

The regatta concluded with a decisive final race, where Mia Lovelady (RFBYC 2) claimed overall victory. Nia Jerwood (FSC) finished second, with Sandy Anderson (RFBYC 1) rounding out the podium in third place.

The Sail Our Way Regatta once again highlighted the strength, skill, and growing presence of women in sailing. East Fremantle Yacht Club thanks all competitors, volunteers, supporting clubs, and She Sails for contributing to a successful and inspiring event on the water.
