Fremantle College Sailing Team Excels at National Regatta

Fremantle College’s sailing team, Moorditj Maar, has returned from the Australian Schools Team Sailing Championship in Sandy Bay, Tasmania, with an impressive result that highlights the strength of youth sailing within our community.

Competing on Pacers during the winter school holidays, the team faced a wide range of challenging conditions, including snow, sunshine, heavy rain and strong winds. Across 21 races, the team secured an outstanding 7 race wins, demonstrating exceptional consistency, resilience and teamwork against some of Australia’s strongest school sailing programs.

EFYC and the 100 Club are incredibly proud to congratulate Arnaud and the entire Fremantle College team on this fantastic achievement. Their performance proves that talent, dedication and teamwork can compete with the very best of the country’s long-established private school sailing programs.

A special acknowledgement also goes to Chloe, an active EFYC Sharpie sailor and now a teacher at Fremantle College, whose passion and commitment played an important role in supporting the team throughout the regatta. We also thank Peter Kennington, former EFYC Commodore, whose continued support and mentorship helped make the experience such a success. Peter has been a long-time advocate for youth sailing and continues to contribute to the sport through initiatives including EFYC’s much-loved Rumble in the Reach event.

For Arnaud, the regatta was an unforgettable experience, providing valuable racing experience while proudly representing both Fremantle College and East Fremantle Yacht Club on the national stage.

Congratulations to Arnaud, Chloe, Peter and the entire Moorditj Maar team on an outstanding achievement. Your success is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished through passion, teamwork and determination, and we look forward to seeing what comes next.
